Dr. Alexander Borek is a recognized data leader, author and keynoter and supports tech and established companies on their data and AI journeys, in particular, with regards to strategy, roadmap, product management, architecture and scaling talent. He brings a lot of experience in successfully establishing global platforms and scaling software products. As the co-leader of the Zalando Data Foundation, he manages the central data analytics teams for business intelligence, data engineering, machine learning, curated sales/customer/product/partner data, master data management and business process mining and automation. He is driving the data analytics transformation across all business units in the Zalando Group.
In his previous role, he served as the Global Head of Data, Analytics & AI at Volkswagen Financial Services, which provides the financial products for the Automotive Brands of the Volkswagen Group. He ran an internationally operating unit consisting of ML engineers, cloud architects, front and backend developers, data engineers, product managers and UX designers to develop and operate high-end data products. Before, he led the data analytics transformation at Volkswagen Group and worked as a consultant at Gartner and IBM, where he had advised Global Fortune 500 executives in multiple industries. Dr. Borek is the co-author of the books „The Ultimate Data and AI Guide“, “Total Information Risk Management”, “Marketing with Smart Machines“ and „Driving Digital Transformation through Data and AI“. He holds a PhD in Engineering from the University of Cambridge.
