Peter Williams has spent over 30 years in a variety of both executive and non-executive positions in consumer-facing businesses spanning retail, leisure, media and consumer products. In the retail sector he has worked in ecommerce; department stores; fashion, sportswear and eyewear multiples; duty-free stores; and mail order.
During his executive career, Peter was on the board of Selfridges for 13 years initially as Chief Financial Officer and then as Chief Executive, during its radical transformation to the world’s leading department store.
Following Selfridges, he was the Chief Executive of Alpha Airports Group plc, which operated duty free retailing and airline catering businesses in 15 countries across the globe.
In his non-executive career Peter has played a major role in the growth of 3 international retailers with a significant online presence – at ASOS, he was the Senior Independent Director for 8 years during which time the market value of the company grew from £70m to over £4.5bn; at boohoo, he was Chairman for 5 years from the IPO, during which time the market value grew from £560m to £2.2bn; and currently as Chairman of Mister Spex, the multi-channel eyewear retailer based in Berlin, which listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in July 2021 at a value of €829m.
Currently, Peter is also Chairman at U and I Group PLC, the leading property regeneration company; and at DP Eurasia N.V, owner of the
master-franchise for Domino’s Pizza in Turkey and Russia. He is also Deputy Chairman at the eCommerce fashion platform, Miinto A/S, based in Copenhagen.
Peter previously served on the boards of Superdry plc, Rightmove plc, Cineworld Group plc, Sophia Webster, Sportech plc, Jaeger, Silverstone, OfficeTeam, Erno Laszlo, the EMI group, Blacks Leisure Group plc, JJB Sports plc, Capital Radio plc, GCap Media plc and the Design Council.
